Verizon Service Issues Hit New Providence, Temporary Tower Planned
The borough says Verizon plans a temporary cell tower as it works toward a permanent solution.
NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — Verizon is working to address ongoing cellular service problems in New Providence after an antenna was removed from 121 Chanin Road.
The removal caused a greater loss of coverage than initially expected, particularly around Floral Avenue, according to a borough update posted Tuesday.
Verizon plans to install a temporary Cell on Wheels along Central Avenue. The borough said Verizon expects the temporary facility to be operational within one to two weeks and remain for about six to eight months while a permanent solution is developed.
