Driver ID'd In South Jersey Fatal Stolen Car Crash, Officials Say

MAYS LANDING, NJ — A 16-year-old Atlantic City resident has been identified as the driver in the stolen car crash in Hamilton that killed two Egg Harbor Township residents, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

The teen boy, identified as J.D., was charged with three counts of first-degree aggravated manslaughter and one count of second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death in connection with the Aug. 22 collision, authorities said.

The collision, involving a stolen Mercedes Benz G-Wagon, killed Robert Barr, Jr., 54, and Alice Stilwell, 67.

A follow-up investigation into the crash was conducted, including a warrant for a buccal swab of J.D. and a search warrant for the G-Wagon, officials said.

Multiple airbags throughout the vehicle were removed, a portion of the windshield in front of the driver’s seat was removed and the vehicle was examined for latent prints. The airbags and windshield were sent to the New Jersey State Police Laboratory, and the latent fingerprints were sent to the New Jersey State Police AFIS.

J.D.'s blood was found on the steering wheel airbag, the driver side curtain airbag and the front windshield sample, authorities said. The latent fingerprints recovered from the steering wheel were also a match for J.D., according to officials.
