Search Continues For Missing Ocean City Swimmer

OCEAN CITY, NJ — A boogie boarder who went missing Monday evening still has not been located as of Wednesday at 2:10 p.m., Ocean City police said.

Members of the Ocean City Fire Department and the Ocean City Police Department with additional assets from the United
States Coast Guard, the New Jersey State Police, the Longport Fire Department and the Cape May County Drone Task Force have been deployed in the search effort, Lt. Dan Lancaster said in an update Wednesday afternoon.

The search will continue into Thursday, Lancaster said.

The public is asked to continue avoiding 10th Street and the beach.

At about 5:05 p.m. Monday, the U.S. Coast Guard received a report of a missing 19-year-old man who was last seen on a boogie board in the surf near 10th Street, Coast Guard officials told Patch.

Two people were on boogie boards about 200 yards from the shore, the Coast Guard said.

One was successfully rescued by the Ocean City Beach Patrol, and told authorities that they saw the missing male lose his boogie board before being hit by a wave and failing to resurface.
