Gas Leak, Broken Sprinkler Prompted Morris Co. Nursing Home Evacuation: Cops

Authorities are working on notifying relatives about the evacuation.

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — A Morris Plains nursing home was evacuated Monday afternoon after a utility emergency was reported, police said.

The Country Home, located at 1095 Tabor Road, was evacuated around 3 p.m., according to the Parsippany Police Department.

A total of 29 residents were evacuated and taken to the Mount Tabor Fire House on Tabor Road. Some families picked up their relatives, and the others were relocated to other assisted living facilities, police said.

Authorities are working on notifying family members of the situation. Concerned family members can call Kimberly Sabatini of The Country Home at 201-247-9958 for information on their relative.

Parsippany police said a gas leak, as well as a broken sprinkler head causing water damage, were the reasons for the emergency evacuation.
