Shoppers can buy bags full of used books and DVDs.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Book lovers looking to stock their shelves on a budget will have nearly three weeks to browse the Friends of the Parsippany Library's upcoming Books & Media Sale.

The sale will run from noon on Friday, Sept. 11, through Sept. 28, at the Parsippany Main Library, located at 449 Halsey Road.

Shoppers can choose from adult and children's fiction and nonfiction books, DVDs, CDs and audiobooks, according to the Friends.

Rather than pricing items individually, shoppers can fill a bag with their selections. A large paper bag costs $6, while an extra-large Friends of the Library cloth bag costs $12. Those who already have a Friends bag from a previous sale can bring it back and fill it for $10.

The Friends hold several bag sales throughout the year as part of their fundraising efforts for the Parsippany Library System.

The nonprofit organization is made up of area residents who support the township's libraries by raising money for programs and materials. Funds raised through bag sales, the Friends' Little Nook used bookstore and other fundraisers help pay for events and programs as well as books, computers, software and audiovisual materials.

According to the organization, proceeds from donated book and media sales go back to the Parsippany Library System and benefit all three locations — the Main Library, Lake Hiawatha and Mt. Tabor branches.

The Friends also accept donations of gently used books and media at the Main Library during regular operating hours.
