Patch: What attracted you to politics, and how did you get started?
Team Point Pleasant: It wasn't the politics that attracted us, it was the governing. Most people run for office because they want a title, we do it to serve. Seeing results that our residents can benefit from is rewarding and that's why we ran for office in the first place. Point Boro is a special place and we want to make sure it always stays that way. People would do anything to live here and the ones that do don't want to leave. It's our mission to keep it like that.
Patch: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your campaign?
Team Point Pleasant: Mayor Sabosik and Councilmembers Coulson & Veni are running for re-election. Our team is running on our strong record of preserving the Point Pleasant Borough way of life while always improving our community.
Patch: How long have you lived in Point Pleasant?
Team Point Pleasant: Mayor Sabosik has lived here since childhood and Councilmemebers Coulson and Veni have been here most of their adult lives. They've made Point Boro home to them and their families.
Patch: Tell us about your career and service in Point Pleasant
Team Point Pleasant: Mayor Sabosik owns Sabosik Associates, a national commercial flooring contractor with his corporate office right here in Point Pleasant. Councilwoman Coulson is a mergers and acquisitions specialist for Johnson & Johnson and Councilman Veni is a supervising engineer for Manchester Township along with being a volunteer firefighter. Our team brings our breadth of professional experience to governing our town.
Patch: What are some ways you give back to the community?
Team Point Pleasant: We give back to the community by being reinvesting our residents' hard earned tax dollars. We are constantly paving new roads, putting in new sidewalks like on Herbertsville and River Roads, fighting developers coming from out of town, continually renovating our parks and playgrounds, always offering top notch recreation programs and are steadfast supporters of our law enforcement and first responders always making sure they have the proper tools to serve our community. We also take part in numerous charitable endeavors throughout the year supporting our local Rotary Club, Elks Club, PBA and hosting several car wash fundraisers a year for our many student organizations and sports teams in town.
Patch: If you were to be elected, what would some of your top priorities/policies/changes be?
Team Point Pleasant: Our hard work has ensured that Point Boro won't fall into the same problems that surrounding towns have. The policies and pro-active measures our team has taken has prevented a take-over of affordable housing developments strangling other communities. If re-elected, we will make sure we continue to fight Trenton politicians that have no care for our way of life here in Point Pleasant. We also have many new and exciting projects that we would like to finish such as the new Community Center and total renovation of the current Recreation Center site including re-surfacing the tennis and pickle ball courts and adding new playground equipment. Additionally, we will continue to pave roads, upgrade services and support our first responders and law enforcement while simultaneously being fiscally responsible. We take pride in crafting and managing our town budget. This year we were able to accomplish so many projects and not reduce service while still reducing our municipal budget.
Patch: What distinguishes you from other candidates?
Team Point Pleasant: As we've stated, many politicians just want a title, we want to serve. We have followed through on all of our promises like new sidewalks for example and we will continue to promise and deliver.
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced during this election?
Team Point Pleasant: The biggest challenge is always going to be managing the municipal budget and fighting oppressive laws coming out of Trenton. Our team has been successful with both.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part about running in this election?
Team Point Pleasant: Hearing from the residents. We go door-to-door talking to voters in town throughout the year. Hearing their stories, concerns and compliments on things happening in town means the world to us.
Patch: How can Patch readers learn more about your campaign?
Team Point Pleasant: Visit Team Point Pleasant on our website pointgop.com, and follow along on Facebook and Instagram. The best way is to just come over and say hi when you see us out in town.
