$11K Leather Jacket Shoplifted From Princeton Store: Blotter

The blotter also included a warrant arrest, and check fraud.

PRINCETON, NJ — A warrant arrest, shoplifting, and check fraud were recently reported in Princeton.

Princeton Police Blotter:

On Jan. 14 at 12:27 p.m.: After a motor vehicle stop for speeding on Walnut Lane, the driver, Marcus Williams, 39, of Newburgh, NY, was found to have an active warrant from the Woodbridge Township Police Department for $1,000. Williams was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing. Williams was issued summonses for speeding, driving while suspended, and no liability insurance. After processing, Williams was turned over to the Woodbridge TownshipPolice Department.

On Jan. 15 at 9:59 p.m.: Princeton Police responded to a business on Palmer Square West for a report of a past-tense shoplifting. Staff reported that a white woman with short brown hair — possibly wearing a wig — and a white man with gray hair — also possibly wearing a wig — stole a woman’s leather jacket valued at around $11,000. The investigation remainsongoing.

On Jan. 15 at 9:05 a.m.: Princeton Police responded to police headquarters for a report of a past-tense check fraud. The reporting party stated that a check issued from their account for $4,378.60, was placed in a sealed envelope and deposited into a secure USPS collection box on Nassau Street on Dec. 11, 2025. The reporting party later discovered the check cleared their account on Dec. 23, 2025, however, it was negotiated into a personal account belonging to an individual not known to the reporting party. After reviewing an image of the cleared check, the victim reported that the payee line appeared to have been altered. The victim reported a loss of $4,378.60. The investigation is ongoing.
