Council Closed Session, Green House Tour, Porchfest: Princeton This Week

PRINCETON, NJ — Good morning, Princeton. Welcome to the Monday manual where we tell you what's happening in town. The week ahead includes a chance to see inside some of the town's greenest homes, a townwide music festival and the next Mayor and Council closed meeting. Here's what's on the calendar:

Mayor and Council closed session
The Mayor and Council will meet virtually at 3:30 p.m. in closed session on Tuesday. Topics listed on the agenda include lease renewal negotiations for Hinkson's, legal advice on the 132 Brickhouse Road lease agreement, the potential use or lease of municipally owned property, the Friends of Herrontown Woods lease and adopt-a-park agreements, and the search for a chief financial officer. The municipality says the matters will be made public when confidentiality is no longer needed.

Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission will meet Tuesday, 5 p.m. They will consider two applications and a resolution on the draft Historic Design Guidelines. One application seeks approval for a new patio, a shed, fence replacement and the demolition of a garage at 30 Lytle St. in the Witherspoon-Jackson Historic District. The other is a retroactive request to modify previously approved garage siding at 66 Leigh Ave., also in the district. The commission will also take up a resolution on the final draft of the town's Historic Design Guidelines, which is available on the municipal website.

Sustainable homes panel
A panel of green building and landscaping experts will answer questions about sustainable homes, and a video showcasing a "pocket-size" accessory dwelling unit will be shown on Wednesday. The event runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Princeton Public Library's Community Room, and registration is requested. It kicks off this year's Green House Tour, hosted by the Princeton Environmental Commission, Sustainable Princeton and the library.

Princeton Porchfest
The fifth annual Porchfest runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, with neighbors lending their porches for live music sets around town. Weather forced organizers to cancel the original April date. The festival is free.
