PRINCETON, NJ — The Princeton Police Department's Community Relations Bureau is heading to the farmers market this week for a morning of conversation, coffee, and community connections.

The department's "Walk & Talk" event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Hinds Community Plaza, in the heart of the Princeton Farmers Market. Officers will be joined by representatives from the town's Health Department, Human Services, Engineering, and Office of Emergency Management, along with the Princeton Public Library, the YMCA, Crossroads4Hope, the Center for Modern Aging Princeton, and Citizens Police Academy alumni.

The idea, organizers said, is to meet residents where they already are.

"With busy schedules, it is not always easy to get down to the municipal complex, so we decided to bring a team to Hinds Plaza instead, to share information and meet people face to face," the department said in announcing the event.

Residents are welcome to stop by with any question, concern, or idea. Those who want to stick around can join a roughly 20- to 30-minute walk departing around 11 a.m., looping through Hulfish Street, Palmer Square, and Witherspoon Street back to Hinds Plaza. The walk is optional — those who'd rather sit can grab a seat, coffee, or tea at the table instead.
