Theft By Deception, Shoplifting: Princeton Police Blotter

The Princeton Police blotter dated Feb. 17 had the following reports:

The following is a summary of incidents as reported by Princeton Police:

PRINCETON, NJ - On Feb. 11, following a motor vehicle stop for speeding the driver and owner of the vehicle was arrested after he was found to be a New Jersey Wanted Person. Additionally, he was found to have two warrants, one from Princeton Municipal Court for $1,000.00 (10%) and one from Belmar Boro Municipal Court for $1,100.00. The man was transported to headquarters, where he was processed. Following his processing, the Pennington resident was released on his own recognizance with two new court dates and he was issued several motor vehicle summonses.

On Feb. 12, officers responded to a business on Hulfish Street for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Investigation determined that an unknown Black man entered the store and took14 items of clothing from a display, valued at approximately $1,392.00, before fleeing the area. Surveillance footage was obtained, and the incident remains under investigation with multiple suspected individuals.

On February 13, patrols responded to a residence on Firestone Court for a report of theft by deception. A man reported receiving TD Bank alerts the prior afternoon, indicating unauthorized changes to his online banking security information, followed by an electronic transfer of $67,450.00 from his equity line of credit to his checking account. The man further said the funds were subsequently withdrawn in cash after an in-person visit was made at a TD Bank branch in Hamilton, NJ. No suspects have been identified at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.

On Feb. 13, patrols met with a Herrontown Road resident and investigated a past theft of a package from the apartment complex's main lobby. The woman reported that a Fashion Nova package was delivered by UPS on Feb. 12, at 11:04 a.m. and was later discovered missing when she returned home around 8:45 PM. The value of the stolen items was around $113.95. Video surveillance was requested from property management, and the incident remains under investigation. No suspects have been identified at this time.
