Fallen Tree, Wires Closes Route 10 In Morris County: See Details

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Following a battering from high winds and heavy rain on Thursday evening, Route 10 has been closed due to a fallen tree and wires in Randolph.

On Wednesday, around 9:30 a.m., the Randolph Police Department announced that Route 10 was closed in both directions between Canfield Avenue and Dover Chester Road.

Around noon, officials announced that westbound lanes had been reopened fully.

According to police, the fallen tree and wires have caused "significant" damage to three utility poles.

Residents of The Oaks Townhomes can access them by using the eastbound lanes of Route 10 at the Canfield Avenue intersection, police said.

"Please be aware that access to AND from the complex should be made utilizing the eastbound lanes of travel," police said in an announcement. "Motorists should not attempt to cross the grass median onto the westbound lanes of travel. Officers are stationed at this location to assist motorists."

Woodbrook residents can exit the complex onto Route 10 East as they normally would, police said.

"Residents needing to return to the Woodbrook Community should do so via Dover Chester Rd. Residents will travel Route 10 West at Dover Chester Road and will cross the center median to gain access to the Woodbrook Community," a statement read.

Officials said at noon that they expect one lane of eastbound traffic to open up in an hour or two.

JCP&L and the New Jersey Department of Transportation are on Route 10 working on repairs. Check back with Patch for updates.

"We are asking for your cooperation and patience while JCP&L is making the necessary repairs to get a lane of travel open," Randolph police said. "PLEASE DO NOT STOP IN THE WESTBOUND LANES OF ROUTE 10 TO CROSS THE MEDIAN. If you have an emergency, please contact 9-1-1, and we will respond to assist you."
