My husband and I wanted to reach out because we are currently competing in Colossal’s America’s Favorite Couple competition, a nationwide campaign raising funds and awareness for both a Regional Food Bank and Oceana, the world's largest international advocacy organization dedicated solely to ocean conservation. With more than 275 policy victories, Oceana has helped stop overfishing, habitat destruction, oil and plastic pollution, and the killing of threatened species.
As a teacher I’m passionate about our environment and social issues. Through this competition, we have the opportunity to not only fundraise for a couple of charities that are close to our heart, but we also get to share our love story! This experience has been incredibly meaningful because, as you'll see in our profile, we reconnected later in life at a time when I was a young widow and my future husband had never been married. With all of the uncertainty and distrust in the world now, we feel that our story is a beautiful example of not giving up on love! We all need a reason to hope for something better, appreciate what we have, and remember it's never too late to find love!
