102 Years Young: Brandywine Sycamore by Monarch Honors Resident Rene Maroney

SHREWSBURY, NJ — Residents, family members, and team members at Brandywine Sycamore by Monarch recently gathered together to celebrate a truly extraordinary milestone , the 102nd birthday of beloved resident Irene “Rene” Maroney.

The celebration took place on April 22nd at Brandywine Sycamore by Monarch, located at 5 Meridian Way, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702, where Rene first enjoyed an intimate private family gathering in the community’s private dining room complete with birthday cake and cherished memories. The festivities later continued with the entire community during a lively celebration featuring special entertainment by a Frank Sinatra impersonator.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, Madam Mayor Kim Eulner of Shrewsbury Township attended the celebration and presented Rene with an official Borough of Shrewsbury Proclamation honoring her remarkable life and longevity.

Born on April 22, 1924, in Niagara Falls, New York, Rene earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Buffalo State and went on to dedicate her career to teaching. She is surrounded by a loving family including her daughter Buffy Phillips, son-in-law Keith Phillips, and grandson Michael Phillips.

Rene has been part of the Brandywine Sycamore by Monarch family since 2017 and is a cherished member of the community. She enjoys participating in reading and book club, bingo, walking club, happy hour, and nightly movies.

When asked the secret to living a long and fulfilling life, Rene shared:
“Good genes, good luck, a good diet, and a loving family.”
