Jersey Shore Pizzeria Opens New Shrewsbury Location

SHREWSBURY, NJ — A well-known New Jersey pizzeria has officially opened a new shop in Shrewsbury.

Located at 1026 Broad Street, Brooklyn Square Pizza opened its newest location in the space where Federico’s used to be in early February.

The new Shrewsbury shop joins four others across Monmouth and Ocean Counties, including restaurants in Jackson, Manalapan, Toms River and Bradley Beach.

According to a report from NJ Advance Media, a sixth storefront is expected to open in Marlboro in a building currently being constructed at 260 County Route 520.

Known for their upside-down pizza, Brooklyn Square Pizza Owner Pietro “Peter” Grippo has been serving up fresh slices to the Jersey Shore community for years.

Since 2001, Grippo has owned and operated pizza places “founded on a love and passion for the same Italian food his mother would prepare for him,” according to the pizza shop website.

After he was unexpectedly diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma (the same cancer his father passed away from), Grippo made a commitment to fight and never give up, the website reads.

“Built on a foundation of family and passion for food, Brooklyn Square Pizza operates on that same conviction to remember the important things in life.”

At Brooklyn Square Pizza, customers can choose from a variety of menu options ranging from calzones and pizza to paninis, wraps, salads, heros and more.

In addition to their beloved menu items, the shop also earned the Premio Caggiano award in 2021, was named “Best Pizzeria in NJ” by the Star Ledger and got high ratings from Barstool Sports Founder & Pizza Reviewer Dave Portnoy.
