Marquee Classic Movies Presents Hitchcock’s The Birds at Basie Center Cinema April 9
Immersive classic film night features pre-show fun, live hosts, Q&A, and trivia prizes in Red Bank
RED BANK, NJ — Fans of classic cinema and suspense will have a chance to experience one of Alfred Hitchcock’s most chilling films on the big screen when Marquee Classic Movies presents The Birds on Thursday, April 9 at the Basie Center Cinema.
The screening is part of the group’s ongoing Classic Cinema Immersive Experience series, hosted by film critic Debbie Higgins and filmmaker Joe DeIorio.
“This isn’t just about watching a movie,” said DeIorio. “It’s about experiencing it the way it was meant to be seen—on the big screen, with an audience, where every moment of suspense hits harder.”

Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, The Birds remains one of the director’s most unsettling works, known for its lack of explanation and its slow-building tension.
“Hitchcock takes something completely ordinary and turns it into pure terror,” Higgins said. “That’s what makes The Birds so effective—and why it still resonates with audiences today.”

A Full Night at the Movies
Doors open at 5:30 PM, giving guests time to enjoy pre-show activities, giveaways, and a lively, social atmosphere before the film begins.
The evening includes a live introduction by Higgins and DeIorio, followed by the feature presentation. After the film, guests are invited to stay for a post-movie Q&A, along with trivia and prize giveaways.
“Our goal is to create a night out,” DeIorio added. “Something social, something fun, and something that reminds people why these films have lasted for generations.”
Continuing a Classic Tradition
The event builds on Marquee Classic Movies’ growing series of immersive screenings, which have included beloved classics like Moonstruck and The Quiet Man—each offering a unique themed experience.
With The Birds, the tone shifts to suspense, but the mission remains the same: bringing audiences together to experience classic films in a fresh, engaging way.
