"We would like to let everyone know that Jim Dandy's of Rutherford will be closing its doors at the end of the day this Sunday, subject to available inventory and supplies."

Gave Back To Community

But Flynn said the location in Nutley will remain open, and that Rutherford customers can get delivery from that location.

"Rutherford customers can still enjoy many of their favorite Jim Dandy's menu items through Uber Eats and Grubhub from our Nutley location," Flynn noted. "Thank you for allowing us to be a part of this incredible community."

The first Jim Dandy location in Nutley opened 40 years ago and was known as the "Home of the Killer Ribs."

They also served wings, wraps, paninis, burgers and hot dogs.

The town of Rutherford noted that during the pandemic, Flynn made sure necessities like toilet paper, plates, and food items were available for local residents to buy at the curbside. Flynn also participated in events to support front-line workers.

The town highlighted the restaurant when it was damaged by a fire in spring 2020, drawing attention to a fundraiser to get it running again.

The Rutherford Arts Council responded to the news on Tuesday night with a post saying, "We want to extend our heartfelt thanks for welcoming us into your space and allowing us to bring people together through art, music, and community over the weekend...You were more than a restaurant—you were a gathering place where friendships were made, celebrations were shared, and community spirit thrived."
