Delayed Openings Set For Rumson & Fair Haven Schools: See Details

RUMSON-FAIR HAVEN, NJ — Schools throughout Rumson and Fair Haven will operate on delayed opening schedules on Tuesday due to winter weather conditions.

The delayed openings will be as follows:

Rumson School District

• 90-minute delayed opening
• School begins at 10 a.m.
• Buses will pick up 90 minutes later than normal
• No before-school activities

Fair Haven Public School District

• Delayed opening schedule (can be found here)
• Knollwood School opens at 10 a.m. with school starting at 10:10 a.m.
• Sickles School opens at 10:20 a.m. with school starting at 10:30 a.m.

Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School District

• 90-minute delayed opening
• All regularly scheduled school activities, extracurriculars, and events will resume unless otherwise directed
• Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Lower Learning Commons

Tuesday’s delayed openings follow snow days across the Garden State that came after a winter storm hit New Jersey with snow, ice, wintry mix, and subzero wind chills over the weekend.

Looking ahead, the National Weather Service is warning residents of dangerously cold temperatures arriving this week, with several nights featuring single-digit temperatures and wind chills below zero.

“Some record lows and record low highs may be in jeopardy later this week,” officials said on Monday. “The stretch begins tonight, with a Cold Weather Advisory in place for the entire area.”

Here’s a look at the National Weather Service’s upcoming forecast for the Rumson and Fair Haven area:

• Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 13. Wind chill values as low as -1. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15-20 MPH, with gusts as high as 30 MPH.
• Tuesday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 22. Wind chill values as low as -1. West wind 10-15 MPH.
• Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 12. West wind around 10 MPH, with gusts as high as 25 MPH.
• Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 22. Wind chill values as low as zero. West wind around 10 MPH, with gusts as high as 25 MPH.
• Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 11. West wind around 5 MPH, with gusts as high as 20 MPH.
• Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 21.
• Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 7.
• Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 19.
