The following is a summary of incidents as reported by Scotch Plains Police:

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — On May 15, a resident of John St. reported a theft of a wallet. The resident said they left their wall on the counter at a local restaurant and when they returned a few minutes later, the wallet was gone. There are no suspects at this time.

On May 18, a resident of Montague Ave. reported criminal mischief to their vehicle. The victim stated the rear view mirror of their vehicle was damaged. There are no suspects at this time.

On May 18, a resident of Rahway Rd. reported a theft of a flag. The victim stated the flag was valued at $100. There are no suspects at this time.

On May 18, a Terrill Rd. business reported a shoplifting. An employee of the business stated the suspect concealed numerous boxes of cigarettes and left without paying. The stolen merchandise was valued at $161.

On May 20, a Martin Pl. business reported a burglary and theft. The business owner stated an unknown individual entered the premises and stole a safe containing cash.

On May 21, a resident of Mountain Ave. reported a fraud. The victim stated an individual contacted them identifying themselves as a representative of a financial institution reporting fraudulent activity on the victim’s accounts. The victim proceeded to do as instructed and deposited funds in Bitcoin ATM in excess of $130,000.
