Scotch Plains-Fanwood Students Head Back To School Next Week

SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ — The days of summer vacation are ticking away as Scotch Plains-Fanwood students prepare to return to classrooms next Wednesday.

Before the opening bell, students will have chances to get comfortable in their buildings. Terrill and Nettingham middle schools will hold orientation activities Wednesday, while Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School will welcome ninth-grade students and their parents. Coles Elementary School will host an orientation for new students in first through fourth grades.

Welcome events are planned Monday at School One, Brunner, Coles, McGinn and Evergreen elementary schools. Activities include meet-and-greets, scavenger hunts and socials. Brunner and Coles have events scheduled Tuesday, including an ice cream social, open house and “Chalk the Walk.”

Staff will gather for convocation and meetings Monday, followed by professional development Tuesday.

The opening week will be brief because schools will close Friday for the Labor Day weekend. Families can check the district calendar for updates. They may also want to double-check transportation arrangements, schedules and opening-day instructions before students leave home.
