Scotch Plains To Hold September 11 Memorial Ceremony Friday

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — The township will bring the community together Friday evening for its annual September 11 memorial ceremony.

The remembrance will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Alan M. Augustine Village Green on Park Avenue, according to a township announcement published Tuesday.

The ceremony will honor first responders and remember those who died in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The township is encouraging residents and visitors to attend.

Among those remembered will be three Scotch Plains residents: Matthew Horning, James Walsh and Mark David “Mickey” Rothenberg.

Friday marks 25 years since the attacks, giving the community another opportunity to reflect on the lives lost and the lasting impact of that day. The ceremony will also recognize the first responders who answered the call and honor the local families whose losses remain part of Scotch Plains’ history.

The ceremony will take place at the Village Green, which is located along Park Avenue in the center of Scotch Plains. Attendance information and the confirmed event details are available through the township’s announcement.
