Sonoma County artist, Bev Haley, unveils new floral works in acrylic that greet Spring with bountiful blooms and buds guaranteed to warm the viewer’s heart.Designed with a whimsical flare, each grouping of flowers in these works coalesce into harmonious synchronicity.White and yellow flowers mix it up with joyful abandon in “Spring Fling Bouquet.”A bird joins the party in “Sunny Side Up,” a vibrant floral display – reds, yellows, blues and more come together like a jeweled mosaic.“I have always loved to paint flowers – they’re a simple subject with endless possibilities, “noted Haley. The viewer is rewarded with delicious examples of Haley’s creative approach to those “endless possibilities” with this dynamic collection.
Passionate about art, Haley has tackled multiple subjects but finds herself drawn to flowers. Her first painting was a single daisy in a blue vase.Working from her reference – books and photos – she composes on the canvas, creatively applying colors and stylizing shapes towards a harmonious overall design.Haley studied art at Santa Rosa J.C. and with multiple master painters. After retiring from a challenging business career, she found her niche in acrylics and mixed media. She has exhibited regionally and in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Meet the artist: Haley will be hosting the Gallery on May 9 & 23 from 11am to 6 pm.
The Stairway Smallworks Showcase features Luba Stolper’s The Still Life Tradition, a collection of works in oil, painted in the traditional style, building luminosity through time-consuming layers of glazing. One can almost taste the cherries in “Cherry Blossom” or smell the pear in “Night Ritual.”Masterfully rendered, these paintings are so enticing, one is tempted to reach through the frame to grab a cherry to see if it’s real. Each work seems to capture the viewer in suspended reality.
Meet the artist: Stolper will be hosting the Gallery on May 2 & 11 from 11am to 6 pm and May 30 from 11am to 2:30pm.
