Man With Gun Inside Business Leads To Arrest In Union County, Police Say

Police say a man was taken into custody after running into nearby woods.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — A 20-year-old Union man was arrested after a report of a man with a gun inside a Route 22 business led officers to a nearby wooded area, police said.

Police said the call came in on June 15 reporting a man inside the business with a firearm. When officers arrived, someone matching the description was seen leaving the area and running into nearby woods.

Officers followed and took the man into custody a short time later, police said. A handgun was recovered during the incident.

The man faces charges including unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a high-capacity magazine, police said.
