Springfield Schools Closed Monday For Yom Kippur: What Families Should Know

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Springfield families should take note when making plans for the start of next week: schools will be closed Monday for Yom Kippur, giving students a day off before the school week resumes.

The closure affects all five schools in the district: Jonathan Dayton High School, Florence M. Gaudineer Middle School, James Caldwell Elementary School, Thelma L. Sandmeier Elementary School and Edward V. Walton Early Childhood Center.

Students are scheduled to return to school Tuesday, Sept. 22, following Monday’s closure, according to the district calendar.

Families can also check the district calendar for upcoming closures and schedule changes throughout the 2026-27 school year.
