Large Crowds Expected At Tatlock Park As Drivers Cautioned In Summit

Graduation ceremonies this week are expected to bring heavy traffic and tight parking around the park.

SUMMIT, NJ — With graduation season underway, officials in Summit are advising drivers to plan ahead this week as large crowds are expected at Tatlock Park for both middle school and high school ceremonies.

The graduations are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday evenings and are expected to draw families, friends, and community members to the area, creating heavier-than-usual traffic around nearby streets.

City officials are asking residents to be mindful of parking rules, neighborhood access, and congestion during the events.

“Please be respectful of your neighbors,” Mayor Elizabeth Fagan said in a message shared by the city. “Do not block driveways, and please park legally. Police will be ticketing if you are parked illegally, so you may want to walk, carpool, or use a ride service.”

Fagan also noted that residents who are not attending the ceremonies may want to avoid the Tatlock area during peak arrival and departure times to help reduce traffic pressure.
