Loud Noises, Speeding SUV Near Summit Home Under Investigation
A Summit resident reported loud bangs outside a Beacon Road home before an SUV sped away Monday night.
SUMMIT, NJ — A Summit resident investigating loud banging noises outside a home Monday night was met with the sound of a vehicle speeding away moments later, according to police.
The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on May 18 at a home on Beacon Road.
Police said the resident was upstairs when two loud bangs were heard near the front door. After going downstairs to check what happened, the resident opened the door and heard a car door slam before a vehicle quickly accelerated away from the area.

Authorities said the home’s door frame was damaged, and small pieces of wood were found outside near the entrance.
Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage from a nearby home that showed an SUV driving up and down the street before backing into a driveway nearby, according to police.

No suspect descriptions or identifying details about the vehicle were available from the footage, authorities said.
