Tatlock Field Lights Delayed Until Fall In Summit
City officials said the newly installed lights at Tatlock Field still do not have power and may not be ready until fall sports begin.

SUMMIT, NJ — The lights at Tatlock Field are up, but Summit officials say residents may have to wait until the fall before they are finally turned on.
Questions about the project surfaced during the May 5 Summit Common Council meeting after residents raised concern s about the status of the long-discussed field lights.
Councilmember Chantal Landman said the system still does not have electricity connected to it.

“If we could turn on the lights, we would, but there is no electricity running to them yet, and I do not know when JCP&L will make that happen,” Landman said.
Landman said several parts of the project are still being worked through, including electrical work, security camera installation and ongoing litigation connected to the project.

“The contractor is working on the electrical, the police are working on the cameras, the city attorneys are working on the litigation,” she said.
Officials also noted that a city ordinance approved last year limits summer use of the lights, meaning timing could play a role in when the system can first be used.
Landman said the current expectation is that the lights likely will not be operational until the fall sports season.
Councilmember Bob Pawlowski said he has expected the timeline to extend beyond the spring season.
“I always was confident that we'd have them up by the fall, and I still think that we will,” Pawlowski said.
