Police Chase Teaneck Intruder Over Fence And Into Next Town: PD

Police chased a man from Teaneck to Bergenfield, then arrested him.

TEANECK, NJ — A Bronx man was arrested Sunday after a Teaneck resident told police they saw someone suspicious in the yard.

Luis Fernando Guasco-Loja, 23, was charged with third-degree burglary.

Police said that just before 9 p.m. Sunday, a Churchill Road resident called 911 about an intruder on their property.

Police viewed surveillance footage. They saw a man entering an unlocked garage and remaining inside for approximately eight minutes, police said.

The man left the garage, tried to open a locked door, then left the property.

Police searched the area and eventually spotted Guasco-Loja. When they tried to stop him, he ran and jumped over a fence, police said. He landed in a back yard on Highgate Terrace in Bergenfield, police said.

Police in Bergenfield responded to help the search.

Soon after, police saw Guasco-Loja in the area of Henrietta and South Prospect avenues in Bergenfield. They arrested him without further incident.

He was found to have black gloves on him. Police determined that he had entered a car that was parked inside the garage.

Fuasco-Loja was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, and possession of burglary tools, police said.

He was transferred into the custody of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, police said.

Police encouraged residents to remain vigilant and lock vehicles and homes.
