Plan For New Verona Emergency Services Building Moves Forward

VERONA, NJ — Verona Township is taking the next step in planning its proposed Emergency Services Building, a project aimed at replacing the township's aging public safety facilities, which average more than 90 years old.

The Verona Police Department currently operates out of a building constructed in 1923, now more than a century old.

As the project moves forward, the Township has received proposals from architecture firms seeking to serve as a Subject-Matter Expert (SME) alongside Solutions Architecture, which will remain the project's primary local architectural expert and Architect of Record.

At a special Township Council meeting held via Zoom on July 28, council members interviewed representatives from three firms:

• BKV Group
• H2M Architects
• Tecton Architects

Each firm presented its qualifications, outlined how it would contribute to refining the project, and answered questions from council members. The Township Council is expected to reach a consensus on an SME partner to work with Solutions Architecture as plans for the facility continue to evolve.

Township officials say the goal remains to provide modern, safe, and efficient facilities for Verona's emergency responders while continuing to incorporate community feedback and expert guidance into the project's design.
