New Swim School Sets Grand Opening Date In Somerset County

WATCHUNG, NJ — Watchung husband and wife duo Samer and Mirna Abraham will open their franchise location of Big Blue Swim School in the borough on Monday.

A ribbon cutting was held on Tuesday, Dec. 6 and an official grand opening with classes officially commencing will be held on Monday, Dec. 12.

As part of the grand opening, for a limited time, a special rate is offered to families when they enroll in weekly swim lessons at Big Blue Watchung. Families will receive 50 percent off their first four lessons.

This location at the Watchung Square Mall at 1515 Route 22 is the second Big Blue Swim School to open in New Jersey, with the first signed lease in Paramus.

"Big Blue gives us an incredible opportunity to serve our community in an important way. We’ve seen first-hand how swimming can instill confidence and bring great joy to children," said Mirna Abraham.

Mirna and Samer Abraham opened the Watchung location after sending their five-year-old daughter to swim lessons and becoming frustrated with the lack of safe options and inattentive staff. Big Blue Swim School Watchung will offer weekly, year-round 30 to 45-minute swim lessons for children beginning at just three months old, seven days a week.

Level-appropriate lessons are led by professional instructors. Big Blue also offers 90-degree water, a viewing area to keep an eye on swimmers; plenty of private changing rooms, fall-proof, anti-microbial flooring throughout the facility, free Wi-Fi and ample parking.

Additionally, Big Blue offers a mobile app to give parents the ability to schedule and coordinate classes for multiple kids simultaneously and track their swimming progress.
