Warren Man Charged With Distributing Child Sexual Abuse Materials

WARREN TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Warren Township man was arrested on charges of distributing and possessing child sexual abuse materials, according to a joint announcement from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and Warren Township Police Department.

Craig Babcock, 33, of Warren, was taken into custody at his home on Wednesday, following an investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Computer Crimes Unit, according to First Assistant Prosecutor Annemarie L. Mueller.

In May 2026, the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force notified the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office of multiple Cyber Tipline Reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning files depicting the sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor via a messaging application platform, Mueller said. Detectives from the Computer Crimes Unit identified Babcock as being associated with the account.

On Wednesday, detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and members of the Warren Township Police Department executed a search warrant at the residence and seized electronic devices for forensic analysis, Mueller said. Babcock was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office for processing.

Babcock was charged with second-degree distribution of child sexual abuse materials, third-degree possession of child sexual abuse materials and third-degree distribution of obscene materials to a minor. He was lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a court hearing.
