North Branch Park

Somerset County's annual Independence Day fireworks display is returning for 2026 on Friday, July 3, at North Branch Park on Milltown Road in Bridgewater.
The free event will begin with park access at 6 p.m., and the fireworks are set to start at 9:30 p.m.
North Branch Park gates will open early to allow vehicles to enter and give families time to picnic on the grounds before the show.Visitors are encouraged to arrive early, with heavy car and foot traffic expected as the start time approaches.
Milltown Road is expected to close at about 9 p.m. ahead of the display.The event will include more than just fireworks.
The NJ 3rd Regiment Revolutionary War encampment will be on-site, giving park visitors an added attraction before nightfall.
Organizers also said food trucks will be available, and people may bring picnic baskets into the park.
Those heading to North Branch Park are asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets to use while spending the evening on the grounds.
Alcohol is prohibited, and personal fireworks are not allowed.
Traffic changes are expected to continue after the fireworks end.
Milltown Road will remain closed for 30 minutes to one hour following the show while pedestrians make their way out of the park and through nearby neighborhoods.
Bridgewater Police will assist park staff with traffic flow during that period.

BRIDGEWATER- The July 4th
celebration kicks off with the annual Independence Day program at the Middlebrook Encampment on Middlebrook Road in Bridgewater.For 131 years, the Washington Camp Ground Association has honored the memory of the American Revolution and the two Middlebrook encampments, both of which played a strategic role in the successful outcome of the Revolutionary War.
The ceremony will start at 10:00 am when local Boy Scouts remove the Hopkinson Flag flown for the last 365 days over the campsite with a new one to fly over the campground until next year. 
The Washington Camp Ground Association was incorporated as a 501(c)3 organization in 1894 and owns a portion of the land, known as Washington’s Middlebrook Encampment. The 19.3-acre location was donated through the generosity and foresight of the Honorable George LaMonte. The “Middlebrook Encampment” is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Association is dedicated to preserving this land for educational and commemorative purposes and to honoring the struggle of the colonists for freedom and independence during the American Revolution. Every 4th of July, patriotic exercises are conducted at the Camp Ground, featuring a reading of the Declaration of Independence. This 4th of July 2025 celebrates the 131th Annual Ceremony and the 249th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. (July 4, 1776).
While today’s event is memorable, in 1907, the Fourth of July celebration included a parade that proceeded from downtown Bound Brook to this location. The parade that year was the first reported in the United States to include a procession of automobiles. Over 2,000 citizens followed the parade to this campground, where the patriotic events were held, and the Declaration of Independence was read.

Branchburg will be hosting a daylong celebration marking America’s 250th anniversary at White Oak Park on Sunday, July 5.
The event is scheduled from noon to 9 p.m. at the park, 235 Baird Road, and admission is free.
The celebration will include food, music, and community activities, with the event benefiting the Branchburg Fire Department.Dogs are welcome at the park during the event.
"Celebrate America’s 250th with an unforgettable day of food, music, and community fun — all benefiting the Branchburg Fire Department!" said the Township."Bring your family, friends, and pups and enjoy a full day of celebration, capped off with a spectacular fireworks display!" said the Township.
A fireworks show is planned for dusk.
Attendees can also expect 21 gourmet specialty food trucks, local vendors, and an adult beverage bar.
Live entertainment is scheduled throughout the afternoon and evening.
