Woman Who Sold Fentanyl In Passaic Co. Found Guilty

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A New York woman who sold fentanyl in Passaic County was convicted in federal court this week.

Naomi Hernandez, 34, of New York City, was charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and conspiracy to distribute.

On Wednesday, following a week-long trial, Hernandez was found guilty by a jury.

According to court documents, Hernandez was chatting with DEA informants in Paterson on an online messaging platform, looking to sell a "large quantity of fentanyl."

In April 2020, Hernandez met with one of these informants in Paterson twice, offering samples of the drugs and discussing business.

In May, she met with the source again and sold 98.6 grams of fentanyl for $5,500.

Two days later, she was picked up by authorities while trying to sell a larger quantity of fentanyl for $45,000. Officials confiscated nearly 500 grams of fentanyl she intended to sell.

Hernandez is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 12, 2027. She faces a minimum of 10 years in prison, as well as up to $10 million in fines.
