Even the most physically well-prepared athletes can find themselves struggling under pressure, overthinking, doubting themselves, and unable to perform at their best when it counts the most. That’s where Dr. Mike the Sport Psych can help. Sport Psychologist Dr. Mike Gross has spent more than a decade helping athletes at every level strengthen their mental game. Dr. Mike the Sport Psych’s new website makes it easy to explore his services and get started today.

What You’ll Find on Dr. Mike’s New Website
The informative new site brings all of Dr. Mike’s services together in one place, making it easy for athletes, parents, coaches, and organizations to find the right support for their goals:

  • Athlete Mental Health Counseling: Personalized support for athletes navigating performance anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, burnout, fear of failure, difficulty refocusing after mistakes, and other challenges of competitive sport.
  • Golf Psychology and Mental Performance Coaching: Specialized coaching that goes beyond the basics to help golfers address overthinking, negative self-talk, competition pressure, the yips, course management, and the mental barriers that separate practice from performance.

  • Sport Performance Psychology: Evidence-based sport performance psychology and mental training to help competitors at every level, from youth and college athletes to professionals and Olympians, perform their best in sports and life.

  • Team and Organizational Consulting: Customized consulting for athletic programs, coaching staffs, and performance-driven organizations across New Jersey and nationally, built around each group’s goals, culture, and environment.

  • Structured Mental Performance Programs: Dr. Mike’s signature programs, Centered Swings™ for golfers, Centered Minds™ for athletes and high performers, and Centered Parents™ for parents, offer a clear curriculum and built-in accountability for individuals ready to commit to mental training.

A Research-Based Approach
Well-intentioned advice like “just relax” and “just believe in yourself” rarely helps in real-life competitive moments. Dr. Mike’s personalized, evidence-based approach is different and helps athletes build focus, confidence, and resilience that sustain under pressure. Grounded in contemporary research and drawing on mindfulness and acceptance-based principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), his process equips athletes with practical, lasting mental skills. Rather than pushing athletes to eliminate difficult thoughts or force themselves to think positively, he helps them learn to stay present, work with their emotions, compete with clarity and confidence, and thrive in their sport and beyond.

Why Athletes Choose Dr. Mike
