Fatal Union County Shooting Ends With Murder Charge
Authorities said a 60-year-old man was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting earlier this month at a Plainfield park.
PLAINFIELD, NJ — A Plainfield man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month in Union County, according to prosecutors.
Jeffrey Lee, 60, was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree certain persons not to possess weapons in connection with the death of 39-year-old Tyquan James, both of Plainfield, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities said Plainfield police responded around 10:49 a.m. on May 10 to Campbell Field on East Third Street following reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found James suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, prosecutors said. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to prosecutors, Lee was arrested Thursday by the United States Marshals Service in Orange.

He is currently being held at the Union County Jail pending his next court appearance.
