New Jersey's midterm primaries will be held on June 2...right around the corner. The race in the 7th Congressional District, which includes Westfield, is one of the most pivotal contests in the nation.

Don't be fooled into thinking the primaries aren't important, or the candidates are all the same. In these difficult times we're living through, your vote is more important than ever.

On the Republican side, incumbent Thomas Kean Jr. will be the party's candidate, unless his current mysterious medical issues force him to drop out.

The Democrats, though, face a choice among four capable candidates. I urge all residents in the district to familiarize themselves with who's who and show up at the polls on June 2 (or cast an early ballot using vote-by-mail or in-person early voting). Remember, you must be registered as a Democrat before you can vote in the primary for one of the candidates.

If you'd like some background and guidance on the Democratic candidates, your local Indivisible chapter is a wonderful resource.

Your vote is your investment in New Jersey's future. Don't miss this opportunity to make a difference.
