Union County Man Who Repeatedly Raped Child Over 3 Years, Sentenced
Edisson Manzano-Lopez, 45, of Plainfield, was sentenced to 20 years in state prison.
PLAINFIELD, NJ — A Plainfield man who sexually assaulted a child over three years was sentenced to 20 years in State Prison, said Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel.
Edisson Manzano-Lopez, 45, reportedly sexually assaulted a child between the ages of 13 and 15 from 20201 to 2023.
On March 18, Manzano-Lopez was found guilty by a Union County jury of one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, third-degree
aggravated criminal sexual contact, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

He was sentenced on Sept. 11 to a total of 20 years in State Prison.
This includes 17 years for the first- degree aggravated sexual assault, which requires him to serve 85 percent of the sentence before being eligible for parole, and 3 years relating to the third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact charge.

He is also subject to Megan’s Law, Nicole’s Law (which allows for victims of certain sex offenses to obtain restraining orders against their abusers), and parole supervision for life upon release.
"This sentence may not erase the trauma inflicted on the victim, but it sends a clear message: sexual assault will not be tolerated,” Prosecutor Daniel said. "The Union County Prosecutor’s Office is committed to pursuing the prosecution of individuals who prey on vulnerable children."
