Westfield To Begin 2026 Paving Program With School-Area Roads First
Mayor Jeremy Berman said about 40 roads are slated for resurfacing, with 16 near schools targeted for this summer.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield's 2026 town-funded paving program is set to begin this week, with about 40 roads scheduled for resurfacing in the coming months, according to Mayor Jeremy Berman.
Berman said 16 of those roads are being prioritized for completion this summer because they are near schools.
"On Aug. 4, our contractor expects to begin milling and paving work on Landsdowne Avenue and a portion of Boulevard (from Clifton to Landsdowne)," Berman said.

The paving work is part of Westfield's capital budget process and a multi-year road improvements plan, according to the town.
The second round of its road assessment program has been completed.

According to the town, that data allowed coordination with utility companies on a multi-year resurfacing plan aimed at making paving operations as efficient and cost-effective as possible each year.
The town also urged residents whose streets are on the 2026 paving schedule to consider any projects that would require a road opening before paving is finished.
Generator installation and switching from oil to gas are examples of projects that may involve opening the roadway.
According to the town, property owners who wait until after paving is completed could face a substantial fee if the road has to be opened later.
