Tammy Williams Is Running For West Orange Mayor In 2026 Election

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Tammy Williams is setting her sights on a new political goal: mayor of West Orange.

The town council member announced her candidacy for the 2026 mayor race this week, declaring that “our best days are ahead.”

“I have the experience,” Williams said. “I see the gaps. And I know what it takes to move West Orange forward.”

“This campaign is about collaboration, results, and building a stronger, more connected community,” she continued. “Together, we will focus on economic growth, responsible budgeting, and the health and wellness of every resident. Everything is possible when we come together.”

Williams is touting a campaign platform which she has dubbed the “West Orange Advantage.” It includes:

• Keeping West Orange strong, fiscally responsible and prepared for the future
• Stronger partnerships with residents and businesses
• Creating a community where businesses thrive and our community shines
• Preparing West Orange for the next generation

Williams won a special election to fill an unexpired term for Asmeret Ghebremicael in November 2025. She formerly served on the town council as president, has decades of experience as a real estate broker, founded the West Orange Suicide Advocacy Coalition and has served on the West Orange Human Relations Commission, among other municipal duties.

Williams is part of a crowded field of candidates who are running for mayor this year. Others who have thrown their hats into the ring include Brian Rock, Phil Orphanidis, Joyce Rudin, Joe Krakoviak, Susan Scarpa, and Susan McCartney.
