According to a news release, Ouedraogo arrived in the United States over 20 years ago with only a small carry-on bag, without speaking English, with no financial resources or personal connections. Armed with her talent in African hair braiding – and an unwavering work ethic – she steadily built a reputation for excellence. Today, her business employs dozens of professional stylists from diverse backgrounds and serves clients from New Jersey, New York and neighboring states.

The woman-led, immigrant-founded business is rooted in African beauty, culture and entrepreneurship, which will add to an already diverse business community in East Orange, supporters say.
