New Training Will Help West Orange Firefighters Save Lives In Medical Emergencies

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A grand-funded program recently helped West Orange firefighters to get some crucial, hands-on training.

West Orange town communications officer Joseph Fagan shared the following details about the training program earlier this week:

“Over the past 18 months, the West Orange Fire Department has partnered with University Hospital to provide our members with advanced medical training through an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) awarded to the department. This grant-funded program has provided firefighters with both classroom instruction and hands-on training covering a variety of critical medical topics, including behavioral health, stroke recognition, trauma care, and bleeding control emergencies. These educational sessions have enhanced our firefighters' knowledge and skills, ensuring they are prepared to deliver high-quality emergency medical care when every second counts. The training not only strengthens our response to medical emergencies but also directly benefits the residents and visitors of West Orange. By continually investing in education and professional development, we are better equipped to provide the highest level of care and improve outcomes for those experiencing a medical emergency.”
