School Bus Hits Police Officer, Pedestrian In Essex County

Both were hospitalized with injuries.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A police officer and a pedestrian were hospitalized after a school bus hit them during the Monday afternoon rush hour in West Orange, authorities say.

The crash took place at 4:04 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Harrison Avenue, and involved a West Orange Public School District bus, a township spokesperson said.

The officer sustained a leg injury and was transported to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.

The pedestrian was also taken to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. She was treated for multiple injuries.

The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, authorities said.
