West Orange Police Chase Suspects After Jewelry Store Theft

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A police chase took place in West Orange after a theft at a local jewelry store last week, authorities say.

According to the West Orange Police Department, officers responded to Walter Bauman Jewelers on Eagle Rock Avenue on Sept. 18 after getting a report about a theft that had just taken place.

Officers arriving at the scene saw two men who matched the suspects’ descriptions get into a blue BMW X3 with a New York license plate. The car then fled the scene – kicking off a police chase, authorities said.

Officers followed the vehicle into Montclair before terminating the pursuit.

Police said both suspects were between 20 and 25-years-old. One of the men had “afro style” hair and a goatee, and was wearing dark clothing. The other was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
