Water Main Break In West Orange: Road Closed, Delays With School Dismissal Expected

Drivers should avoid the area, town officials said. The West Orange School District also issued an advisory about the water main break.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A water main break impacted traffic on Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange on Thursday.

The township issued an advisory about the break, which took place in front of 1155 Pleasant Valley Way. A portion of the roadway from Mount Pleasant Avenue to Old Indian Road was closed.

“NJ American Water is on scene assessing damage,” the township reported. “County DPW is also on scene.”

There was no estimated time for repair, or for the reopening of the road.

SCHOOL ADVISORY

The West Orange Public School District also issued an advisory about Thursday’s water main break.

“The school district has been informed by our township officials that a water main break occurred on Pleasant Valley Way closing the street in both directions between Old Indian Road and Mt. Pleasant Avenue,” administrators reported.

“Due to the closure of this portion of the roadway, we can anticipate traffic congestion today and delays with transportation at dismissal,” school officials said.
