West Orange Residents Report Attempted Home Burglary, Car Burglary

WEST ORANGE, NJ — An attempted home burglary and a car burglary were reported last week in West Orange, authorities say.

The West Orange Police Department released the following details about each incident:

• Aug. 25 – Patrol units responded to Chestnut Street after getting a report about an attempted burglary at a local home. The resident said they heard loud banging coming from the front of the residence around 4:50 a.m. The suspects attempted to force entry through the front door of the home, but were unsuccessful. A police investigation continues.
• Aug. 26 – A Devonshire Terrace resident reported that their Audi was burglarized while it was parked in the driveway. Surveillance footage from the area shows a silver/grey colored Porsche SUV travel down the roadway and stop in the front of the victim’s home. A male wearing dark-colored clothing gets out the vehicle and removes about $250 worth of proceeds from the victim’s car. The suspect vehicle then travels south on Devonshire Terrace, police said.
