West Orange Teens Earn Record-High $192K From Scholarship Fund
This year's effort distributed a record-high $ 192,375 to 159 students – a big milestone.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — It was a record-setting year for the West Orange Scholarship Fund (WOSF).
Graduating class of 2026 seniors at West Orange High School gathered with family and friends last weekend to receive community scholarships and school awards.
This year’s effort distributed a record-high $ 192,375 to 159 students – a big milestone, according to scholarship fund secretary Tynia Thomassie.

“We had 159 applications and we were able to provide scholarships to 100 percent,” Thomassie enthused.
Top students in each subject were recognized, along with members of the Student Council and Senior Class Council. Principal Oscar Guerrero praised students who impacted school culture in school service.

In addition to the WOSF, local organizations like the Elks, Shauger Group (Timothy Groves Scholarship), UNICO (who has distributed over $40,000 in scholarships), and military organizations we on hand to distribute additional monies. The Nikhil Badlani Foundation has provided $300,000 since its inception in 2011, and the CJ Morgan Foundation has given out over $100,000 to seniors and to the CJ Morgan Endowment Fund.
