Visit the Westwood Museum

The Westwood Museum, which is located in the Westwood Train Station, will be open for residents and visitors from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 12.

Historic photographs and artifacts from Westwood's past will be on display in the museum, together with a new Open House exhibit: "Military Memorabilia," which displays items used by Westwood residents during their military service, including World War I items of Arthur H. Floyd and World War II items of Jospeh P. Whalen and Anton A. Heins, Jr.

In addition to this new exhibit, there will be five ongoing display exhibits in the Westwood Museum: "Westwood Veterans Council: Supporting Westwood's Veterans, Past & Present," a photographic exhibit documenting this organization's activities within the Borough and beyond; "Westwood's 'Fallen Hero' - Christopher R. Hrbek," a special photographic exhibit; "Our Boys Come Marching Home - Westwood's WWI Veterans," a photographic exhibit documenting the return of Westwood's veterans from Europe after the end of World War I; "Westwood Avenue - Westwood House to Haring Hardware," a historical photographic exhibit of the changes that have occurred on the first block of Westwood Avenue, eastward from the Westwood Train Station, in the 100+ years since the establishment of the Westwood House Hotel; and "Westwood Avenue - Center Avenue to Kinderkamack Road," a historical photographic exhibit of the changes that have occurred on the blocks of Westwood Avenue, eastward from Center Avenue to Kinderkamack Road.

There are also display exhibits at two other locations within the Borough: "Youth Volunteerism in Westwood," a photographic exhibit highlighting the spirit of volunteer activities among Westwood's younger generation -- which is on display in the exhibit case located in the Westwood Public Library; and "The Changing Face of the Westwood Post Office - 1800s to the Present Day," a photographic exhibit of the history of the post office in the Borough -- which is on display in the exhibit case in the Westwood Municipal Complex.

The Westwood Heritage Society was established in 1988 as a grass roots volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of the hometown history, beauty and spirit of the Borough of Westwood.
