SUV Crashes Into Building In River Edge, Closing Major Road
An NJ Transit bus route through Westwood and River Edge was detoured Wednesday after a "serious" crash, officials said.
RIVER EDGE, NJ — NJ Transit routes through Westwood and River Edge were detoured Wednesday morning after an SUV crashed into a building on a major road and caught fire.
Bergen County Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer said around 7:15 a.m. that investigators from the Bergen County Fatal Accident Task Force were investigating the "serious" crash on Kinderkamack Road in River Edge. He said no further details were available.
ABC News reported that an SUV crashed into a real estate agency and caught fire around 3 a.m. Two people escaped the burning car, they said. A portion of Kinderkamack Road was temporarily closed.

News 12 said the Nigito Realty Co. building was damaged, and residents of apartments above were evacuated. They reported that at least one person was taken to the hospital.
NJ Transit implemented this detour on Wednesday: "Bus route 165 will operate on Kinderkamack Road between New Milford Road and Continental Ave due to police activity. Buses to PABT will use Milford Ave, Madison Ave, River Road, River Edge Road and Kinderkamack Road. Buses to Westwood will use Kinderkamack Road, River Edge Road, River Road, Madison Ave and Milford Road."
