Join Nuestra Tierra to celebrate the places and waters that define and sustain us, and the people who work to protect them.

Nuestra Tierra Conservation Project is hosting the Gila Wild & Scenic Film Festival at the Seedboat Collective in Silver City, New Mexico on August 22nd from 4-7 p.m. Join us to celebrate the places and waters that define and sustain us, and the people who work to protect them regionally, nationally, and locally. The films weave shared challenges, resilience, and successes across campaigns to inspire and energize our collective efforts to keep places wild and scenic.

Community-led efforts are happening all over the country – and they are happening right here, in Silver City, at the gateway to the Gila. This is the home of the nation's first designated wilderness, the Gila National Forest, and the Gila River, one of the last free‑flowing rivers in the Southwest. The Gila River is at a critical moment as Senator Martin Heinrich and Representative Gabe Vasquez have championed M.H. Dutch Salmon Greater Gila Wild and Scenic River Act. Designating these rivers as Wild and Scenic would provide permanent protection for more than 400 miles of streams and rivers in the Gila region, safeguarding them for future generations.

The films featured will focus on the Gila River itself—its beauty, its history, and the people fighting for its future. Following the screening, join a Q&A with legislative champions who will share what's next for the Gila and how you can help. There will be food and drink available, good company, and a chance to turn inspiration into action. Come as you are, we’ll save you a seat.

This event offers a digital pass for those who cannot attend in person, which will allow the purchaser one week access to films from August 22nd to midnight on August 28th.
