100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc. Hosts National Mentoring Month Gathering in Freeport, NY
The gathering served as both a strategy session and moment of fellowship, underscoring the organization's dedication to its national mission


Freeport, NY — During National Mentoring Month, the 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc. convened members and supporters for a recent meeting at Bobby Q’s Just Like Your Mama’s Restaurant in Freeport, New York on January 29th, 2026 reaffirming their commitment to mentorship, leadership development, and community empowerment across Eastern New York.
The gathering served as both a strategy session and a moment of fellowship, underscoring the organization’s dedication to its national mission known as “Four for the Future” Mentoring, Education, Economic Empowerment, and Health & Wellness.

These four pillars guide the organization’s work as it prepares young people, particularly Black youth, to become future leaders through consistent guidance, accountability, and positive role modeling.

National Mentoring Month, observed every January, highlights the critical role mentors play in strengthening families, schools, and communities. Research consistently shows that mentored youth are more likely to stay in school, pursue higher education, develop leadership skills, and avoid risky behaviors. For Black communities in particular, mentorship offers a pathway to stability, opportunity, and long-term success.
The meeting at Bobby Q’s a beloved Black-owned, community-centered restaurant reflected the organization’s values of unity, cultural pride, and local engagement. Members discussed expanding outreach, strengthening mentoring pipelines, and increasing visibility throughout Eastern New York.

The 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc. is now issuing a call to action: Black men across Eastern New York are encouraged to step forward and join the mentoring movement.
By becoming a mentor, members help:
- Shape the next generation of leaders
- Provide guidance rooted in lived experience
- Strengthen families and communities
- Build a legacy of excellence and accountability
