Native American Pow Wow Returns To Copiague For 44th Year

COPIAGUE, NY — Native American dance, music, food and art will take center stage this weekend when the 44th annual Paumanauke Pow Wow returns to Tanner Park in Copiague.

The family-friendly festival, presented by Paumanauke Native American Festival Inc. in partnership with the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts and the Town of Babylon, will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, and Sunday, Aug. 9.

The event will feature traditional, intertribal and Aztec dance performances, dance competitions, traditional drumming, Native American artisans, artists, crafts, authentic foods and specialty vendors.

Organizers said the annual Pow Wow gives visitors an opportunity to experience and learn about Native American heritage and traditions. Proceeds will benefit the Native American Scholarship Fund.

The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, with Grand Entry ceremonies scheduled for noon and 7 p.m.

Sunday’s festivities will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a Grand Entry ceremony at noon.

The event will be held rain or shine at Tanner Park, 400 Baylawn Ave. in Copiague.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors age 60 and older and teenagers between 12 and 16. Children younger than 12 will be admitted free.

There are no advance ticket sales, and admission must be paid in cash at the gate.
